Push-to-talk voice for staff on their feet

Getting a message to the right person during service usually means crossing the room or waiting for them to look at a screen. PTTHex is a push-to-talk app: hold the button, speak, release, and everyone on that channel hears it where they are standing.

Talking during service

Floor staff, the kitchen and duty managers spend a shift moving, usually with their hands full. A message has to compete with the noise of a full room, and the person who needs it is rarely the person standing next to you. Venues that fall back on a personal messaging app end up keeping the venue's business on an account the venue does not own.

PTTHex runs on a phone or a handset through its client app. Staff hold the button, speak and release, and the channel hears it. It works with a tray in one hand and from the far side of the room.

Channels, groups and device approval

The structure is a manager's job, not a free-for-all. Channels and groups are organised in the PTTHex Customer Panel by branch, by role, by user and by device, and a phone has to be approved before it gets field access at all. A manager can see activity and status across the venue.

So a kitchen channel reaches the kitchen, a floor channel reaches the floor, and a direct message reaches one person. Someone who leaves the team loses their device approval and stops being able to talk on any of it.

  • A manager sets up the channels, groups and permissions
  • Each phone or handset is approved before it can be used in the field
  • Staff press to talk on the channels they have been given
  • Direct messages and prepared notices sit alongside live voice

Calling an 86 to the floor

A dish runs out while tables are still ordering it. The chef presses the kitchen-to-floor channel and says it is off; every headset hears it at once, so servers stop offering it and the pass is not sending tickets back.

None of that touches the record of the evening. The open tables, the orders already placed and the bills stay in ManageHex. What changed is how long it took the floor to find out.

ManageHex still holds the order

PTTHex carries talk. It does not take orders, price anything, open a table or write to your sales history, and an order placed in ManageHex does not fire a voice message on its own; a person presses to talk. The two products are bought and run separately, and a venue can use ManageHex with no PTTHex at all.
